Hoa Sen University, Vietnam and British Academy, UK will host an international conference in order to update the latest knowledge concerning translation studies for academics, researchers, and either translators or interpreters.
The conference will take place on the 13th of January, 2018 at Hoa Sen University at 08 Nguyen Van Trang Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 01, Ho Chi Minh City.
This conference, in particular, will focus on Fandom in Translation, which is concerned with unofficial translation of various forms of written or multimedia products produced by fans or amateurs. These fan translations do not always compete with official translations, but supplement them and allow for greater access to key cultural and popular texts. Building on work in fan studies and translation studies, the conference will explore the range of translations available on the Vietnamese web and investigate translation strategies and reception of specific examples.
The conference will provide participants with plenty of opportunities to explore translation and relevant areas such as issues regarding translating films, songs, or games. After each presentation, participants will be able to exchange their views with the speakers. There will be a panel discussion at the end of the conference which allows participants to raise their questions or share their experience with regard to fan translation.
